Girls trip to HAWAII (and Drew)

(Is anyone else frustrated with the new Blogger formatting? Just wondering.)

We had a blast of a trip to Kauai for my mom's 50th bday celebration.  She called us a few weeks before and said, "Okay, I'm inviting you to my party in Hawaii."  How could we turn that down?  The other downside to it was we had to leave Ben Jonny home.  :(  But, with it being Fall Break all of the kids were out of school and we were able to have some of my YW watch him during the day and John could have him when he got home from work.  It actually worked out really nice.  He would've had a hard time in Hawaii.  We were so excited to get to Hawaii so as soon as we got there, the girls pulled their swimsuits on and headed to the beach.  This is the first time in the waves.  Lucy LOVED it.  We also got to have the Nelson girls jump in with us and it was so much fun getting to know them. They were nice enough to babysit at night while we went out to eat!

The next couple of days were spent going back and forth from the beach to their enormous pool - about a million times.  It was so nice not having to worry about Benny around the water because Lucy is pretty much waterproof now so I was feeling pretty good.

On Sunday, we found out what time the churches were and headed out.  I love going to the Hawaiian wards.  The people are so passionate about the gospel and they have a sincere love for it.
Here's our turtle friend - we called him Crush!

This was our last day at Tunnels Beach known for its snorkeling reefs.  The water here is aqua blue and the beach is white sand.  When we were walking up, someone yelled, "Turtle!" So we looked out and about 10 feet into the water was a big sea turtle.  I quickly put on my snorkel gear and went out to see it. This turtle was so awesome.  He just rolled with the waves and would put his head out every now and then for air.  We were petting it and he didn't care at all.  Later we found out that they are going extinct and if the lifeguard saw us it would've been a $10,000 fine!

A new addition to the hotel was this awesome baby slide.  The kids could've played here all day.  It was perfect for Lucy and Sadie! Gosh, could it get any better?

This picture is great because if you look closely you can see Millie sleeping on the beach!  What baby does that?  She was SO fun to have on the trip and she literally can sleep anywhere.

A new thing we tried on this trip was a lei making class.  The kids signed up and were in a group with all newlyweds!  So funny.  But they loved it and made some beautiful leis.

My mom loves being in Hawaii with the kids and I'm so grateful that she made this trip happen for all of us.  It was so much fun but it went too fast.  As much as I was missing Ben & John, I could've stayed another week.
