When Erin mentioned one day that we should do a girls' weekend at her cousins Cam's cabin in Lake Arrowhead, CA, we didn't take her seriously at all but when she brought it up again, we took her up on it. This place was up on this beautiful mountain and the further up you got, the roads got narrower and narrower. It didn't help that it had dumped snow the weekend before and so they were a bit icy as well. I was the driver for the trip and the suburban handled the ice fine but when another car was coming the other way, it got a bit tricky. Once we got to the cabin, the views were breathtaking overlooking the lake and the weather turned out to be so pleasant.

One night we had a Favorite Things night where each of us brought a favorite thing to share with the group and a few of the items were Diet Cokes, Swedish Fish, Cookie Butter, and Betsey made cute scarves which I didn't stop wearing all weekend, but the winner was Jamie. She brought everyone a recorder because she thinks she's an amazing recorder player. It was a crack up to hear everyone try to play these for the first time. Especially Joy. So funny and such a fun thing to do.

Along with shopping at the market and eating great Thai Food (so gross), we also stocked up on Rocky Mountain Chocolate. I kind of overdid it in this department and somehow my chocolate ended up all over me and on my pants. And my phone. We were laughing so hard we were crying. Here's our lame attempt at goofy pictures.
Shauna curled my hair which I loved so we could go to church and hear the high council speaker talk for 45 minutes straight. Ya, so boring.
At the end of the trip, we all realized that despite having crazy lives with tons of kids and crazy husbands, we really do like being with each other. It was fun to reconnect with these girls and I love knowing that we'll always have this bond forever. It was also fun to let the 'mom' in me relax for a weekend. I sure needed that. Next year, we decided the husbands need to join us because it would be so much more fun with them.
