The girls and I set a goal to read the Book of Mormon in 90 days this summer and we were thrilled when my mom jumped on board with us. Not only did she read it with us, but she promised the kids an outdoorsy trip to Utah if we finished on time. This put our reading mode on a whole new level. Every night, they were the ones telling me it was time to read which instilled a great habit for them. I loved coming downstairs after putting the boys to bed hearing the scriptures going with them all huddled around. Then after each section, they had great questions to go along with it. I swear it has a different effect on you when you read it like that instead of a few verses a night. For a mom, it was a dream come true.
So here are the pictures from the Utah trip. (We finished our reading the night before they went.)
The first day they went fly fishing in the Provo River. My mom and Kaits had done this before so they knew what they were doing but my girls and Drew had to learn quickly and boy did they ever! Many fish were caught!
On another day, they hit up the Olympic Park in Park City. Slides, zip lines, and Main Street Pizza Noodle were all conquered on this day. My mom called me while they were zip lining and said she had to come down because she literally thought she was going to die but my girls stayed up on the zip line and had a blast. She couldn't believe how high it was and that it didn't phase them. Go girls!
They also did some white water rafting and the new museum at Thanksgiving Point. I love that place.
But the highlight of the whole trip and the main reason they went was to see Wicked. My mom said that after each song, Cams would almost jump out of her seat and clap. She was eating it up. The others loved it too but Cams had a spiritual experience with it. We still haven't stopped listening to the sound track and I love it.
And of course, they're on the front front row. Amy's style. :)
On the last day, they went to the Spoken Word at the Conference Center. I sure am proud of these kids for what they accomplished and the spiritual muscles they grew. Thanks mom for rewarding them with this memorable trip. They loved it and they love you!!
